Ever since its premiere in 2015, the beloved anime series One Punch Man has been a success, captivating audiences with the bald-headed protagonist Saitama’s formidable power of taking down opponents with a single punch. As the story focuses mainly on the heroic characters, viewers have developed an attachment to the various main casts in the show. It’s been two years since Season 2 aired in 2019, but excitement stirred among fans again in August 2022 with the announcement of One Punch Man Season 3: Release Date. This has got fans everywhere thrilled and eager to know what awaits them in the new season.

After a two-year hiatus, the official One Punch Man Twitter page has unveiled a promotional image announcing a highly-anticipated third season. Fans of the anime have responded with tremendous excitement and are eagerly looking for any updates concerning the next season. To provide more information, here is all that is currently known about One Punch Man season 3.

One Punch Man Season 3

The third season of the show is not yet officially scheduled, though some followers anticipate its arrival in 2023. Nonetheless, a more feasible timeline would be 2024 or 2025, due to the extensive production period necessary to bring the season to life. This mirrors the long gap of four years between the first and second seasons of One Punch Man, released in 2015. Fans may therefore expect to wait around 3-4 years to get the new season.

Production Update: Which Studio Will be Animating One Punch Man Season 3?

Madhouse’s animation for the first season was acclaimed for its high quality. The subsequent season, though animated by the less-established J.C. Staff, drew some controversy for the animation quality it presented. Although the studio’s effort was thought to be reasonable, fans weren’t pleased with it. Consequently, for the third season, J.C. Staff could potentially be brought back to animate it, although it may not be the favored option among fans.

In recent months, there has been considerable conjecture that MAPPA Studios would handle the animation for the upcoming third season of One Punch Man. This idea made sense due to MAPPA’s remarkable workload, as the studio has assumed the production of some of the most renowned anime, such as Attack on Titan. Nevertheless, the official One Punch Man Twitter page cautioned viewers not to give credence to this speculation as the MAPPA takeover is simply a rumor.

The identity of the studio that will animate the upcoming season has yet to be confirmed, and it has some fans worried. J.C. Studios, who was scouted for season two, and MAPPA Studios, who experienced negative criticism for the final season of Attack on Titan, are potential contenders for the project and some fear their involvement would lead to a dip in quality.

Fans should not overlook the potential of Studio Bones when considering who could animate the OPM creator’s latest work. After the completion of Mob Psycho 100 Season 3 and My Hero Academia Season 6, Bones would have the capacity to take on the project.
